Although based in Edinburgh I cover weddings across all parts of Scotland. So it was great to be back in Fife filming Lynn and Mike’s University Of St Andrews wedding. I love this part of Scotland. With its beautiful town and massive beach, St Andrews is the perfect seaside town. Lynn and Mike’s wedding took place at the lovely Upper and Lower College Halls, which form part of the University Of St Andrews.
I had an early start for this wedding day. I like to arrive at the wedding venue at least an hour before the ceremony. This gives plenty of time to film the opening ‘establishing’ shots of the wedding venue. When I film these opening shots I’m ‘setting the scene’ for what’s about to happen. I love capturing detail shots of all the little things which add up to make your wedding day unique. The flowers, the order of service, the wedding rings, the kilt pin and lots of other little, but important, details.
Once those shots are filmed it’s time to meet and film the groom and guests as they arrive. A lot of attention is obviously focused on a bride, but it’s important to remember the groom, too! So I film the groom, ushers and page boys as they wait to meet and greet the guests. Depending on the wedding venue, some grooms like to head for the bar and grab their last pint as an unmarried man! Others have a wee hip flask and I like to try and capture them taking a swig of the whisky!
Presented here is the opening chapter of Lynn and Mike’s University Of St Andrews wedding video. This short film shows highlights of everyone arriving for the wedding ceremony, and a few details shots, too.
