A week ago I had a brilliant time photographing Siobhan and Lee’s The Hub wedding. This lovely couple were married at The Hub, on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. It was a real scorcher of a day, one of the hottest oo the year. The day started with me photographing the bridal party preparations. Siobhan was very relaxed, especially after a wee glass of champagne!
After about an hour with the girls, it was time for me to depart to Edinburgh city centre. The Hub is an amazing wedding venue. It consists of a massive hall with a large balcony surrounding three sides. Wedding ceremonies at The Hub take place on the balcony area.
The Hub is a great wedding venue for indoor wedding photography. With plenty of space and beautiful staircases, there are no issues if it’s raining on your wedding day. Fortunately, for us the weather was fantastic! After the wedding ceremony, we went away for a wee while in the Rolls Royce to shoot some outdoor newly-wed photos. First stop was Johnston Terrace, with impressive Edinburgh Castle as a backdrop. We then went into Princes Street Gardens, directly in front of the Ross Fountain. Apparently, wedding cars aren’t meant to follow the newly-weds into the gardens, but we were already there, so the park staff allowed us to stay and take photos. An error on the part of our driver, but it worked out fantastically! There are not many photographers lucky enough to capture shots of a lovely couple, an impressive Rolls-Royce and the awesome backdrop of Ross Fountain and Edinburgh Castle!
After shooting a good selection of photos in Princes Street Gardens we went to The Castle Esplanade and The Royal Mile. It was tiring on such a hot day, but so satisfying taking beautiful photos in such wonderful city centre locations.
A highlight of the day was the live band Northern Star. I managed to catch a bit of their sound check and the videographer in me kicked into action. I recorded this short clip which shows off their brilliant talent. They’re an excellent band, check them out by viewing this short video. Enjoy!
