Another sunny weekend, another beautiful wedding day. On Saturday, I had the pleasure of filming Hannah and Mark’s Our Dynamic Earth wedding day.
I am extremely fortunate to film and photograph weddings throughout Scotland. But is always great to be right on your own doorstep. Our Dynamic Earth is less than one mile from my home, so it was nice to have a relatively late start for a change!
Our Dynamic Earth is a fantastic visitor attraction. It’s located right next to the Scottish Parliament and the Palace of Holyrood House. According to the Our Dynamic Earth website, “Our Dynamic Earth takes you on a journey through our planet’s past, present and future. With interactive exhibits and impressive technology, including a 4D and 3D experience”.
Mark and his Groomsmen arrived in a beautifully restored old VW camper van. All the guys looked fantastic wearing morning suits. A nice change from traditional Highland Kilt outfits which is obviously the norm for most Scottish weddings.
Pipe Major Iain Grant was there to welcome guests upon arrival at Our Dynamic Earth. Iain is a giant of a man! With his distinctive handlebar moustache, he looks the part like no other Piper. Visitors and guests alike took plenty of photos of Ian!
The Bridesmaids were also transported in the VW Camper Van and looked beautiful in bright yellow dresses. Absolutely the perfect colour for such a sunny day!
Bride Hannah was able to arrive in a cream coloured convertible VW Beetle with the roof down. Hannah looked beautiful. Her Father was clearly very proud to be escorting her into the venue.
I filmed this wedding video using two high definition cameras. One camera to the side at the front. The other camera to the rear of the aisle. One camera captured a wide angle of the ceremony. The other being used for close-up shots. I then spend time carefully editing the shots together to create a very tight sequence of shots which tell the story of the event as it progresses.
After signing the marriage schedule, Hannah and Mark were piped upstairs and onto the terrace for a champagne and canapé reception. The terrace has Arthur’s Seat as a backdrop. On a beautiful sunny day like Saturday, it was such a stunning location to be taking shots of all the guests. Hannah and Mark then went for a short drive to have a few wedding photos taken around Arthur’s Seat.
Pipe Major Iain Grant played the wedding party into the wedding breakfast. He then ‘addressed the haggis’ to rapturous applause. Iain was also the perfect Toastmaster for the speeches. Again, I filmed using two video cameras. As before, one camera filming at a wide angle. The other camera capturing close-up shots of all the laughter and tears.
Booking Our Dynamic Earth for your wedding means private access to the display galleries during the evening reception. This is great fun. There are lots of interactive displays. There’s even a man-made iceberg!
With the evening guests in place, Hannah and Mark cut their wedding cake and went straight into their first dance. The newly-weds had clearly been practising their moves. They pulled off an amazing routine which I filmed in beautiful cinematic style with a Steadicam stabiliser system. This enabled me to walk around the edge of the dance floor circling the newly-weds. Filming the dancing in a cinematic style which is way more interesting than typically provided by wedding videographers.
After the first dance everyone was invited to take part in a Scottish ceilidh. This was great fun to watch and film, everyone was clearly having a brilliant time!
This was a brilliant wedding day. Really great fun to film, with the most amazing clients. Hannah and Mark, I hope you have a wonderful honeymoon over on Skye. You’ve been a pleasure to work for and I really look forward to editing your wedding video.
Here are a few wedding photos taken from Hannah and Mark’s wedding video. Enjoy!
