Glencorse House Wedding – Joanne and Mark’s Magnificent Midlothian Wedding Day

by Jonathon

Yesterday I had the pleasure of filming Joanne and Mark’s wonderful Glencorse House wedding day. And what a day it was! A beautiful setting, beautiful weather, and the loveliest couple to film. Happy days!

Glencorse House wedding venue is located to the south of Edinburgh. I really love venues like this, where exclusive use means privacy and plenty of beautiful locations to shoot lots of varied and gorgeous video.

I met Joanne and Mark in Edinburgh during 2011, and chatting away with them I knew I really wanted to film their special day. So roll on a year later to yesterday, as soon as Mark arrived and we started chatting I knew this was going to be a really fun day! Mark was relaxed and really looking forward to seeing Joanne. Plenty of laughing and joking with guests, it was great to see a groom showing no nerves whatsoever.

Bride Joanne looked beautiful as she arrived at Glencorse Kirk. This intimate old church is located at the top of a steep hill, so the bridal party made the short walk up to the church. Joanne was laughing and in great spirits as I filmed her arriving at the Kirk.

Mark’s face lit up when he saw Joanne walking up the aisle. I got a great shot of Mark looking down the aisle as Joanne was escorted by her dad. Humanist celebrant Juliet Wilson conducted a lovely personalised ceremony, with groom Mark’s granddad having everyone laughing with his reading.

After the ceremony, everyone walked the short distance back over to Glencorse House where they enjoyed a glass of champagne and a few canapes in the glorious sunshine. One of my favourite wedding entertainers, the Ritz Trio, entertained the guests. A wonderful atmosphere in such a beautiful setting!

Glencorse House has a small lake in the grounds and is the perfect setting for some gorgeous wedding photography and video shots. I filmed some gorgeous, natural shots of Joanne and Mark. I also bagged a lift back to Glencorse House with the newly-weds on the back of a golf buggy, filming all the time, a pretty cool shot as we whizzed up the narrow dirt track!

Back at Glencorse House, I filmed a few ‘detail shots’ of the table decorations inside the marquee. In a break with tradition, Joanne and Mark supplied a different cocktail for each table, instead of a glass of champagne. Perfect for a beautiful sunny day like this.

Cheered into the marquee, the newly-weds cut their beautiful wedding cake. This was followed by the speeches, which were great fun, Mark and his best man had the guests in stitches with some of their one-liners!

My day ended with filming the tossing of the bouquet, followed by the first few dances. Evening entertainment was provided by the ever brilliant Edinburgh band Callanish.

What a day! Congratulations to Joanne and Mark. I’d like to share a few still images taken straight from the video recording. Enjoy!
