I recently had the pleasure of photographing Elaine and Jonathan’s Edinburgh Napier University wedding day.
Coverage of the day began in the morning in Bathgate at bride Elaine’s parent’s house, where I captured the Bridal party preparations.
Elaine, her mum and her sister were all in excellent form. Relaxed, having a bit of banter and chilling out with a glass of bubbly. Amy from the ‘Made Over Ladies’ was beautifying the girls and making sure the make-up was applied perfectly. I love capturing detail shots of the preparations. The dresses, shoes, flowers, champagne and sweet little gifts that the couple has exchanged with each other.
The weather was beautiful and sunny in the morning though the forecast was saying it might rain. When I left Bathgate, it was quite overcast, and with Edinburgh on the horizon, the clouds were getting darker. By the time I arrived at Craighouse the rain was just starting to fall. Never mind, though, Craighouse is the perfect venue for indoor wedding photography.
Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t too kind and we had to spend the rest of the day indoors. Some venues aren’t so great for indoor photography and can throw an inexperienced or ill-equipped wedding photographer. Fortunately, Craighouse at Napier is a gorgeous venue with plenty of space to shoot beautiful wedding photos. My favourite areas were the grand staircase and the Turmeau Hall.
I just had time to take shots of the groom and guests arriving before the downpour started. All of the rooms at Napier Craighouse are a decent size, and with the staircase and Turmeau Hall, we had an excellent backdrop for shooting lovely photos of the newly-weds while the guests had a glass of champagne.
The celebrations continued for the rest of the day in the exquisite Turmeau Hall. A beautiful and historic room where the speeches, cake cutting and dancing took place.
Here’s a few of my favourite wedding photos from this beautiful wedding day at Napier University. Congratulations to Elaine and Jonathan, you were both brilliant. Enjoy!
